Re: Firehawk Book - Data help needed
Mac, I'd really like to buy a copy of your book too. The chances of us ever getting out to Norwalk are slim/none. Are you going to be selling these online and accepting Paypal as payment?

Re: Rim detail
They won't stay "flawless". These wheels were poor quality from the get go. Even on the showroom floor, the barrels were pitted and flaking. No amount of elbow grease or waxing will change that. My first set, I had the barrels sanded down and painted semi-gloss black. My second set will get the same...

Re: Who has the Castrol Syntec package on thier LS1?
I'd like to know this too. I have "Quaker State Synquest" on my window sticker, but no badge was present under the hood at the dealership. I picked up a nice Mobil 1 badge, and another specific Firehawk one several years ago. Both are in my engine compartment now. ----------------- 1999 TA Firehawk ...

Re: FS: Firehawk Wheels
$1000 is a more than fair price, for wheels in such nice condition.
Don't fall prey to low ballers, I'm confident that you will get your price if you hold out.

Re: Crack in radiator
Please don't put that Stop Leak garbage in it. You will regret it later. I spent a very long day fixing my 1986 Grand National; the former owner, instead of fixing the cracked thermostat housing, used Stop Leak instead. It contaminated the entire heater system. I found all the hoses were plugged wit...

Re: Alignment Specs for 1999 Firehawk
I'd like to know the factory alignment specs for my '99 Hawk, too. It has new Bilsteins, and everything underneath looks good. One of the front sway bar brackets was broken (how that happened, on a car that hasn't gone more than 1500 km in four years, I dunno), but that's fixed. It still needs a fir...

Re: Build Sheets
Unfortunately, in the 4th Gen cars, the build sheet was usually left in the center console, or in the glove compartment. Which means that, during PDI, the dealership often threw them away. I had one for my 2000 Camaro SS (it was in the center console), but the one for my 1999 Firehawk is gone. I hav...

Re: 201X Camaro options?
Wait for the drastic interior redesign, expected for 2012. You will see Nav offered then. You heard it here first. Or, you can go aftermarket. There are several vendors offering kits for the Camaro that replace part of the dash on the 2010-11 models with a panel large enough to accept a standard Nav...

He's very active on the Corvette forum board. Seems like a genuinely nice fellow, and is very knowledgeable about Zaino. Wolfdogs do seem to be one of his passions.

Re: Strut Tower Braces Question
I've never heard anyone, ever, ask this question before! I can't see any way a strut brace would affect the hood, unless it is so poorly fitted to the car that the underside of the hood comes into contact with the brace itself. So, no, no issues with the brace on my Hawk (Edelbrock 3-pt) and its hoo...

Re: Power Window Motor Replacement
take the 3 or 4 screws out and pull your door panel... i paid to have my driver side done twice Uh, no. If your power window motor has never been replaced before, the original motor is held in place by several rivets (not screws). These are hidden behind the fiberglass inner door structure. You fir...

Re: New member, I bought #128
I've got the original set of Hawk mats, and another set I bought from SLP afterward. They are both identical. Seems like one of those urban myths to me. Do you really think SLP would go to the trouble to stock two different types of mats? I wish SLP would make the dark grey 1999-model mats av...

Re: replacing spark plugs
The trick to changing plugs in the LS1 engine is unbolt the coil pack bracket, and move them slightly out of the way. A friend and I had the plugs changed on my '99 Hawk in less than 2 hours, and that was with several coffee breaks. The only challenge was the #8 plug (back, passenger side), which re...
