Re: 2001 Formula Hawk #293 Restoration thread.

Looking good :naughty: , just wondering, why didn't you clean up the spindles while you were that far apart ? Time constraints and weather. I didn't have an extra set of spindles and was chilly and rainy the days I was working. Car has to be back together to go into storage for winter and those wer...

2001 Firehawk #293 (Gauging interest)

So I think a lot of you have been following along on my resto project. I've pretty much run out of stuff I had to work on for a bit and may be in a situation to buy a house so thinking about selling the Hawk for some liquidity. I have no need to sell it, but probably would if someone meets my price....

Re: 2001 Formula Hawk #293 Restoration thread.

Lastly for the big stuff this year, decided to replace all the calipers, pads and rotors. I bought all new hoses but didn't have time to get all the rust off the old fittings and decided for now to just leave the old hoses in place till next year. Also found an axle leak on the passenger side. No bi...

Re: 2001 Formula Hawk #293 Restoration thread.

Tackled the front suspension. Again pretty basic stuff. Unbolt old stuff, bolt in repaired stuff. The only real issue was the bolts for the lower front control arms were completely seized in the bushings. I got the horizontal ones out after some work with a hammer, but the vertical ones had to be cu...

Re: 2001 Formula Hawk #293 Restoration thread.

Alrighty, so for final assembly on the rear suspension (finally). First thing you have to do is install the bushing. The panhard bar could not be any more straight forward, grease the new bushing, push them in then grease the bolt sleeve and push that in. Done! The control arms are a bit trickier. T...

Bilstein B-12 lowering springs (From kit 46-200402)

Selling the springs from the Bilstein 46-200402 kit I got for the Firehawk. I think the springs are actually Eibach Pro's, just licensed to Bilstein. Only reason I am getting them is they are just too low for my taste so I had them on for a few hundred miles and switched out to OE LE2 springs. If an...

Re: Black factory caps

SLP sells a lug/cap package (part# 82552) that has the older style caps. the 00-02 I believe used just the standard newer style F-Body caps. They are still available from GM, part #9594435

ZL1 1LE Destroys the 'ring

I know it isn't Hawk related, but I'm going to hedge my bets you guys will appreciate this.

7:16 around the 'ring, in a $70K Camaro, on production tires.

Re: 2001 Formula Hawk #293 Restoration thread.

Got the rest of the rear suspension painted. It came out OK, but the paint I am using is pretty old so it didn't lay down as well as I hoped. Having said that, they are chassis parts, so they are going to get dinged and chipped anyway, but hopefully won't get rusty again. Also started assembling the...
