Re: 2001 Formula Hawk #293 Restoration thread.

Sorry I've been so quiet on this thread for awhile. The Hawk has been hiding away most of the summer, the original 10 bolt is getting a bit sketchy so I don't take it far. I also moved which has limited my ability to get rolling on the Axle rebuild at the shop. Might get some stuff done this weekend...

Re: 2001 Formula Hawk #293 Restoration thread.

Door panel crack prevention: SO I am sure some, if not many of you have had the top piece of plastic on your door panel crack. Here are a couple of tips to prevent it and how I modded my panels. Cause: There are several possible causes from impact or sometimes slamming doors which the only way to p...

Re: How to do a coolant change (drain and refill, no flush)

There s a drain on the bottom of the radiator on the engine side. Open, drain into bucket, refill radiator and overflow bottle. Done. Run the car awhile then check the level. DO NOT open the radiator cap with a hot engine and make sure you use Dexcool (red) or universal (yellow) coolant. Don't mix gr...

Only if you get caught. :naughty:
This mentality is why we lost any chance of official repro's from the original source.

93-02 Polygraphite front control arm bushings

If any of you follow my resto build thread you will know about my error with the front bushings for the control arms. That being SAVE THE ORIGINAL METAL SLEEVES! Having said that, you have the opportunity to not only score a set of brand new polygraphite bushings on the cheap, but show me up and not...

Re: 2001 Formula Hawk #293 Restoration thread.

Started taking the donor 10 bolt apart. Not much to see. Once I got axle grease on my hand I stopped taking pics but I will share more when I start putting it back together. When the weather warms up a little more I will get the axle tubes welded, then paint it up and start putting it together again...

Well, except for the 10th Anni hawk was not the end of production and will never get near the price of an LT4 Hawk in the 93-02 category, spot on!!

Re: 2001 Formula Hawk #293 Restoration thread.

One more quick upgrade before the car goes into storage. I love the 80-90's style tech, but not so much that crawling into the trunk to change CD's or making a mix cassette jumps out at me as something fun to do. Since I don't want to chop anything up in the dash for a double din, and I kinda like t...

Re: need help for a 91 Firehawk #005

Are you adjusting the clutch when you install it or just bolting it in? This sounds more like improper installation issues than clutch issues. Do you have pictures of the any of the clutches and flywheels you took off so we can see what they looked like? Also breaking a clutch in properly is huge fo...

Re: 2001 Formula Hawk #293 Restoration thread.

Looking good :naughty: , just wondering, why didn't you clean up the spindles while you were that far apart ? Time constraints and weather. I didn't have an extra set of spindles and was chilly and rainy the days I was working. Car has to be back together to go into storage for winter and those wer...

Re: 2001 Formula Hawk #293 Restoration thread.

Lastly for the big stuff this year, decided to replace all the calipers, pads and rotors. I bought all new hoses but didn't have time to get all the rust off the old fittings and decided for now to just leave the old hoses in place till next year. Also found an axle leak on the passenger side. No bi...

Re: 2001 Formula Hawk #293 Restoration thread.

Tackled the front suspension. Again pretty basic stuff. Unbolt old stuff, bolt in repaired stuff. The only real issue was the bolts for the lower front control arms were completely seized in the bushings. I got the horizontal ones out after some work with a hammer, but the vertical ones had to be cu...
