Re: Rally Trip Itinerary : from west coast
I'm planning on leaving Kearney, NE, sometime on Thursday mid-morning, July 31st.
I have to stop in Lincoln, NE, around mid-day to pick up my daughter who is going along for the ride. Then on to Geneseo, IL, for Thursday evening.
VirgilB is leaving Littleton early Thursay morning & we hope to meet up somewhere between Kearney, Lincoln, Des Moines, ..., Hopefully before Geneseo! )
If you leave Cheyenne early morning, you might make it to Kearney in 4-1/2 hours.
There are 2 or 3 spots of 55mph road construction on I80 between the two locations.
I'll pm a cell phone number that you can text to & let me know where you're at.
If ya need a room, ..., let me know.

No, the convoy from Geneseo to Norwalk is normally Friday, so that would be August 1st.
And you might want to consider JuLY, not JuN, ...,

Why don't you drive it in one day or maybe two? 5K miles in a week can be done. Just sayin'.

I'm not in that much of a rush... Lots of driving for an old car with an old driver. And without getting into detail, the current itinerary stands. If the car makes it we'll be waiting for you all!

I'm driving Friday morning, but may go Thursday after work. Know for sure as that week gets close. If it times out, I 'll look for everyone at Geneseo. From prior convoys, you should bring a family band walkie talkie radio so we can talk between us. Its fun and easier to sort out our stops along the way.

Re: Rally Trip Itinerary : from west coast
We've got a room reserved at the Geneseo "America's Best Value Inn", which used to be the Super 8.
I'm pretty sure we'll be there, & most likely VirgilB/NBM/Colorado, on that Thursday night, July 31st, & convoy to Sandusky thru IL/IN/OH on Friday, Aug 1st.
(Yea, my post above is confusing too, ...)
Not sure on Bryan's schedule above, if he'll be traveling across NE/IA with us on Thursday or not yet.
What channel do ya use the w-t on?
I've got to see if we can find our old units, & if not, pick up a pair.

All depends on how the car is running. Actually leaving this Friday to spend a few days in Utah. I'll keep you updated.

Here in Utah. Was looking over the car and noticed miklyness and some junk floating around in the coolant when I pulled the radiator cap off. don't know if I'm going to risk the rest of the drive .

Re: Rally Trip Itinerary : from west coast
Does it run rough? (that you can tell of anyway, ...)
Are ya sure it's not just residue from short trips thats typically found under the oil cap & the radiator cap?

Ran just fine. Stayed just above 160 the whole time. Residue stuff is also on the overflow dipstick
