Gauging interest. Who lives in the blue Northeast? When I move back to NY I'm thinking about starting a FAOA chapter called "Northeastern Hawks" and maybe an "Annual After The Thaw" gathering.

I replied to your post on Facebook. I'm always down assuming my nutso schedule permits. I also know a pretty good route to cruise near the NY/PA border on I 84

This is a particular favorite, but I have a few that go all the way up to the Adirondak's

I visited backside of Maui. Took me two attempts, about 6 hours non stop hairpin mountain driving (volcano actually). Best drive ever.
It looks like you could turn it into a full loop instead of switching back at the fishing village, except you get ino gravel portions.

There is another fabulous drive with 1000 ft dropoff cliffs in Colorado. It eates plenty of vehicles. There is no guarding so the snowplow can push off snow down the face. It's been that way forever. That one is toward Silverton. Usually. These routes attract the risk takers.

Good write up on one of America's most dangerous roads. The area produced billions in minerals, so constructing a 2000 vertical drop over 6 miles was undertaken as a toll road initially. I keep trying to hit this region in fall leaves. Need to try harder.

When your terrain is not challenging, you make finding good drives like your PA route a objective. The Firehawk headed to Calgary once, to find some of that driving. I have been through parts of that Eastern route, need to explore it.
