Are the spring seats too thick?BLACK-HAWK wrote:A&A Corvette has the car.. they might get to it next week although my little firebird isn't at the top of their list with a garage full of vetts and a ctsV coupe...

Re: The BlackHawk
i think they were just some shaty springs used to keep the cost down when built the 1st time. an anomaly turned into a trend.. new better springs are going in on both sides

Spring seats is part of the install height items to consider, would be nice to know what the springs are, what is the install height, are the seats/locators shimmed, are they shimmed too much allowing the seat/locator to move around the spring pocket... lots of questions come up when there is a failure. Normally it would be nice to trust someone to build an engine for you, unfortunately more often than not double checking everything is a good thing to do.223Hawk wrote:Are the spring seats too thick?BLACK-HAWK wrote:A&A Corvette has the car.. they might get to it next week although my little firebird isn't at the top of their list with a garage full of vetts and a ctsV coupe...

Re: The BlackHawk
finely mustered up the motivation to pull the transmission out today.... tomorrow a guy from work who knows more about the t56, transmissions and whole lot about rocket engines then I will ever learn is going to help me tear it down. so far, with a good firm grip on the input shaft and rotating it i can hear clunking gears and it locks up intermittently. fun stuff......
