Sadly, Ithink its a fake hawk.
I recently acquired a "firehawk" from a close friend of mine. I had seen it around town in its prime a few years back and always seemed to be a nice car. The previous owner ended up blowing it up (nitrous can be deadly ) so as the years passed it got slightly tore down. When I acquired it the firehawk hood and original wheels were gone but the interior and body were still in great shape. It still has the firehawk badges tho and like I said was a very clean car when it was driven. Well I got curious today and started really looking into the car and im starting to think its not a true hawk because it does not have the correct RPO code. So far all I can tell is that it was simply a 6sp formula (W66 and WS9). Im not sure what other options I have to verify it since SLP gave me the same response everyone gets from that time period, "We don't have all the information on that year model due to yada yada yada". I was sure that they would be able to give me the info I needed but since they cant I am at a loss as to how to tell for sure. If this is an imitation it was a damn good one when it was driving around. Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks, Dustin

Post pics of it, I'm assuming its a 93.
Give the year, color combo and options.
What type of exhaust does it have and how About the hood and airbox

It no longer has the functional hood, stock wheels or motor/trans. I know from seeing it before that all of these things were what they should be. It is a 94, red ext gray leather int. I already have 2 TAs and the only real reason I picked this one up is cause I hate to see a numbered car get sold for scrap. I have the means to restore it (not number matching obviously) but don't wanna put any time or money into it if it was just a formula. VIN 2G2FV22P8R2244609.

I had my doubts when I bought it but it had immaculate interior and a built (as built as they get at least) 10 bolt so it was worth the $400 I paid lol.

Yea, bummer. Nice try though.........If it was a real 93 Hawk it would have RPO code R6V. Closest you have is R7N, "Pontiac sales item 39" what ever that is...... I don't think you got hurt for $400.00 though......if the tail lights are nice and don't show any signs of delaminating or water intrusion, they are worth at least what you paid for it. If the interior is really that nice, easily worth twice that. Glass headlights etc...heck you could probably make more money parting it out than if you stuck a junk yard motor and tranny in it and sold it running. Sad.............................

Ill most likely end up removing the firehawk badges and just putting it together anyways. Have an LT4 I just finished rebuilding in the garage, just dunno what im gonna do with 3 birds in front of the house lol.

But like I said, whoever made it an imitation went above and beyond, it even has firehawk floor mats and a metal firehawk keychain. XD

no, a 427 LSx in an otherwise stock looking lt1 body styled Formula would be one heck of a sleeper

Re: Sadly, Ithink its a fake hawk.
OK so here is a twist in this already mess. I was looking in the FS section to see what hawks are going for and ended up browsing current owners. Turns out that the previous owner of my car (as per the title) is registered on the site as a valid hawk in the city that I bought the car. The strange thing is that his hawk was teal and not red. I cant see any sign of the car having ever been painted and the Vin shows absolutely no sign of being tampered with. Now im confused...
Re: Sadly, Ithink its a fake hawk.
That is incredibly strange! Does it look like the vin has been tampered with?
