is less than 6 months away. Make your plans soon. It's not too early to start your planning now.

But, ..., I imagine we are still looking at using the same Comfort Inn as last year then?
Anyone interested in doing the same ol' Illinois stop-over for Thursday night & the eastbound convoy for Friday?!?
Geneseo, Princeton, or somewhere in IL would be fine for me.
Heck we could even get to the Joliet area if necessary on Thursday night.

I get to my new base in June which will be in Florida so the drive won't be as far as Cheyenne, Wyoming! This year will be my first Firehawk Rally! I need to get ahold of my new shop to make sure I will be able to take leave

Cheyenne to Florida? are you by some chance a 2MO? I'm hoping to get stationed from Cali to Cheyenne so I can be closer!

Brian, Unfortunately I will not be able to attend again :( .. I need to save $$$ for my base transfer this time next year. I'll be supporting the the Long Distance Drive Award Sir and I'll get that PayPal'ed to you soon. BUT! If by some chance my Base of Preference gets approved for Edwards AFB I will indeed be attending!

I have brought friends with me but this year my dad is coming. I have slept in the car, camped, and stayed at the cheapest hotels but this year will be my first at the host hotel. I don't think I can get my dad to clean my car as well as my friend Tom did last year. Last year was amazing and winning for farthest drive and the drag race helped with the cost. I owe Bryan a dinner for one prize if he ever shows up.

I doubt my dad would let me do 120 on highway 80 in PA. What a sweet 10 seconds on the downhill straightaway. :naughty:

Always shoot for the stars. Even if you don't get there you could still reach the moon, a good alternative. Someday, you might just hit that star. You will never know unless you try.

We stayed at Sawmill Creek Resort last year. Really big facility, and despite a huge number of teens, it was quiet. Large pool space, but little time to use the amenities. There were next to no Pontiacs there - saw one 67 GTO the next morning. Parking stalls tight and full, so hard to park by the golf course to get some addtl space. Think there was a cheer squad convention going on, which is probably one of the kinds of activities filling up area hotels.

Thinking about trying that cute old motel by the switch back we make on the route to Cedar Point peninsula. Have info not and rate was good.

I believe the Super8 is now an "America's Best Value Inn" now.
I wouldn't mind going a bit further, like Princeton, or even Peru.
Peru has a lot more choices for food, fuel & motels.
I know people in Princeton, so I wouldn't mind stopping there either.
But it's not up to me! You make the decision & we'll make arrangements for our room.
