Just to follow up, long tube headers with high flow cats, as well as Strano springs with Konis are on all 4 corners. Ses light extinguished with the long tube install. Actually the new cats did the trick. Car looks & drives awesome now.

Dammit, took it for a ride Sunday afternoon & noticed the check engine light is back on. Got a few things to check, but this is getting aggravating.

You could have a 'lazy' O2 sensor...
Doesn't respond as rapidly as it should...
Codes??? That'll help w/ diagnosis (dx)
I run a constant scanner in BLU n my
pssg side sensor has this issue, monitor always
dx that code so I never sweat it...
will reset after
about 25-30 cranks, then when I hammer on
It will almost instantly light code again, run a lil
rich n have ory's on BLU,
Post any codes if ya can....

Noticed code is back on when I took the car to my storage unit. I need to get off work before 8 PM so I can bring it back home. If that doesn't happen, Saturday will be the soonest I can get to it. I will let you know. I'm hoping it's just a little moisture on the 02 sensors. The car sat for 3 weeks prior to throwing the code again. I live in Florida, so it's possible.

Somethings telling me it's a problem with the ecm. Exact same codes. 02 sensor right bank primary rich, right bank secondary lean. Everything ahead of the LM2 was replaced. Car runs fine, it's just annoying driving it with the check engine light on.

If it is the ecm, would a tune by say, Frost eliminate the problem?

Re: High flow cats for an '02 TA Hawk
A possible answer to the ongoing dilemma has presented itself. I want to nearly duplicate the Hawks exhaust on my ws6. See 2002 ws6 aftermarket exhaust in this section. Differed slightly from that post, I bought 1 7/8" polished, stainless long tubes to a 3" collector. High flow cats, 3" catted y, 3" in/out Loudmouth 2. Here is what threw me, a 3" over the axle pipe that drops to 2 3/4" where it splits to go to the tail pipes. I want to stick with the stock ws6 tips. Anyway, the guy on the phone says I won't need the rear 02s, don't use them. I ask him why not. He says if I do, it will throw the check engine light on. This could be what's throwing that code in my Hawk. Trying to find somebody to delete the rear 02s from the system, I know a guy who said he knows someone to do it, but it costs a grand to do. Anybody have any input here regarding this? Seems an awfully high price to tune out rear 02s.

Mine was dyno tuned back in 2002 and I had O2 sims for rear sensors. I'm going through a rebuild right now and will do away with cats.02 red hawk wrote:A possible answer to the ongoing dilemma has presented itself. An O2 light can be 1000 reasons. I'd have a speed shop look at it. That cat can be bad. The sensor can be "lazy"/bad. Your leaking fuel from injector....etc the list goes on.

Got the rear 02s tuned out today. No more light. Of course, the temp gauge was pegged on the drive home. Got the car in the garage, popped the hood & the coolant was boiling. Waiting for the tuner to call me back. He needs to fix whatever he screwed up. I am happy the check engine light is finally off.

Hopefully the thermostat just hung open. Started the car in the garage today & the fans kicked on at 190 & 195 respectively. Unable to drive the car as it rained all elfin' day. My driveway is under water. Will try again tomorrow, but the forecast calls for more rain.

Thermostat replaced. I'll see if that did the trick.
