345 option

Post by PontiacFan » Sat Aug 23, 2014 9:37 pm

Wasn't the '345 base alterations' an option that came in the 2002 year?!?
Which included the 'Blackwing' Donaldson airbox?
Pretty sure the 2001's were listed as 335hp.

Then why does this 2001 model, have '345 base alterations' listed on it's birth certificate?

I've got to guess it's an error on SLP's part when they printed the document?!?
And then the car doesn't even have the Blackwing airbox, ...

I am guessing it was a mistake made by SLP when the birth certificate was ordered. Seeing that he has the SLP air lid and not the SLP Blackwing air lid makes me believe it was a mistake made by SLP. According to SLPcamaro.com it has the base alterations, chrome wheels, and 1LE suspension. If I were interested in it I would ask for a picture of SLP door jam sticker and ask if he has the Donaldson Blackwing Air lid. I believe the optional air lid was only optional in 2002 aka the 345 base alterations package.

You would be correct. About the first 200 Firehawks for 2002 did not receive the Blackwing airlid & filter which were 335hp. I believe it was around Sept. 2001 that they started receiving the Donaldson Blackwing lid & filter for the 345hp rating.

High Flow Induction was added approximately 09/01/01. For customers who receive their 2002 Firehawk prior to the 09/01/01 date SLP made an offer to those owners that were interested in the system were asked to send their name, address, Firehawk order number, and email address and they were contacted and given the availability and pricing for ordering the new induction system for their 2002 Firehawk. SLP probably gave them a reasonable amount of time before offering the remaining Blackwings to the public.

It's odd that SLP would have a misprint like that as you provide them with the VIN. Also that car has the floor and deck mats, but that is not on the birth certificate (those could have easily been added later though).
