01' Firehawk with 02' options used for GM sales & marketing
I purchased the original SLP owned 2001 Black on Black Firehawk that has the optional 2002 Firehawk content added to show the press the 2002 options before 2002 model year & for photography for sales marketing. I purchased the Hawk Jan. 31, 2002 directly from Ed Hamburger, president of SLP Engineering.
It was 2001 Hawk #0267, the last off the GM 2001 line, ordered by SLP. They added the 2002 exclusive Firehawk upgrade option; IROQ rear spoiler with the wide CHMSL brake light, chrome plated wheels, Bilstein performance suspension system, Auburn high torque differential w/ AAM cast alum. cooling cover, floor mats & rear deck mat. If you see a Black Firehawk in the 2002 SLP sales literature, video or car magazines, that is my car.
My beloved Firehawk was totaled by a suburban thar ran a red light.
I am still waiting for the insurance adjuster to properly value the car.

Man, that hurt to read the last 2 lines. I am sorry for your loss. I would be devastated if something happened to mine.

Damn that sucks big time!
Really a crying shame to lose such a part of the Firehawk history.

I am going to retain the car. It will have a salvage title. I haven't decided what to do with the car, part it out or sell as a whole. Put the engine & tranny in another car ?

Good luck with what you decide to do. If you should decide to part it out post up here. I would be interested in the spoiler. That just sounds so cruel, but keep us posted on what you do.

Wow that was a clean Hawk! Sorry to hear about what happened. I would be interested in the hood if you do decide to part out. Thanks for sharing this story with us.

Wasn't that clean. Look how nasty the rf wheel barrel & engine bay are.

Very sorry to see that. Thanks for sharing the story.
IMHO the car would have a slight bump in value given it's SLP use however I can't see the difference from other similar 2001s being more than a few thousand.

yikes!! Not cool. Buy it back from the insurance after you get their buy out check. keep it and fix it if.....if it makes sense. If not, part it out. Whatever insurance gives you, you'll make that also in parting it out.

did the left (driver) side get pushed over? Out of straight. If the engine compartment took the impact and didn't completely tork the frame, it might pull out pretty well, then cut in a new (donor car) front section. I wouldn't be afraid to drive it once the repair is properly performed. You'll need a body shop with Chief or similar high rated frame rack that is using the laser measuring system. That thins out the crowd pretty fast. I've done a little work in our college shop program using that equipment. It gets you pretty accurate in factory reconstruction specs.
