2002 ws6 aftermarket exhaust

Post by 02 red hawk » Sun Aug 16, 2015 8:46 pm

My Firehawk with the Loudmouth 2 muffler sounds goooood. I want to duplicate that system. Don't want to offend anybody here, so I will not identify companies I will be buying parts from. 1 3/4 long tube headers into a 2 1/2 collector, high flow cats, y pipe back to a 2 1/2" inlet/outlet Loudmouth 2. I have found 2 1/2" stainless tail pipes. I want to stay with 2 1/2" so I can keep my stock ws6 tips. I love those things.. What I'm not sure about is the tail pipes come with a 3" intermediate pipe. The headers, cats & y pipe are from 1 company. The Loudmouth 2 is from another co. And the tail pipes are from someone else. What is a 3" pipe doing with a 2 1/2" set? Can anybody shed some light on this? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Damn, if I didn't already order the 2 1/2" LM, I would take you up on that. Thanks for the offer, though.

Ordered 1 7/8" polished stainless long tubes with 3" collector, 3" high flow catted y. 3" in/outlet Loudmouth 2 with a 3" over the axle then splits into 2 3/4" tail pipes. I want to keep the stock ws6 tips. Yes, they look small back there, but I like the look.

I am thinking about ordering a 3" off road y pipe, & have the cats & 02s tuned out. If so, I will have a 3" high flow catted y (brand new) for sale. Anybody interested?

Do you like the sound of the LT's, ORY, and LM2 combo?

Love the sound of long tubes. Stayed with high flow cats on y pipe into Loudmouth 2. Exit through stock dual duals. Woke the exhaust sound up, more aggressive sounding over the tuned length headers. Had the rear 02s tuned out to rid me of the check engine light. That's what got me thinking about going with an ory, & have the cats tuned out on my ws6.

It's done. Stainless, polished long tubes with 3" collectors. High flow cats & Loudmouth 2 muffler. Supplier told me tail pipes were 2 3/4". Wrong, they are 2 1/2", which is a good thing. My stock ws6 tips slipped right over them. Absolutely no rasp :D Lost some ground clearance. :( With Strano springs, 2 3/4'' is where it sits. It sounds just as good as my Hawk now & that was the goal. Although, the Hawk isn't this low. Oh well, what's done is done.

Bryan what are you asking for the LM1 exhaust? Just bought my first hawk, 2001 Firehawk 10th Anniversary. Slp#204, 10 Anniversary #15.

Do you have a pic of the tips? On my 02 WS6 the exhaust tips were welded on, just curious what they look like and if they are the same.

Pics sent in a PM. The pass side sits a bit higher than the driver's & the tips were torched off the stock ws6 tail pipes. Very rough on the back edge where they were tack welded on. I'm gonna break 'em loose, even the pipe height & grind the back side smooth. I'm cursed with being a stickler for perfection & I'm quite OK with that.

I'm gonna have to crawl up under the car & tighten the exhaust system up. The y pipe with the cats has drooped to about a pack of smokes on it's side. I couldn't make it over a speed bump, so I turned around. Don't want to scratch the cats.

No height adjustment was available for the exhaust. 3 3/8" clearance is what I have. Car looks too damn good to go back to stock suspension. Strano springs are where it's at. Being proactive, the car is in a body shop to replace the sail panel. Car lives in a pitch black garage & pimples were starting to form on the leading & trailing edges. GM part was ordered & is taking 3 weeks to be delivered. The 25th will mark week 1. I miss my ws6, already.
