1994 Build Number 480 Found!

Post by Ferdy » Fri Nov 13, 2015 12:36 pm

Hello group,

I'm freshly noob to the site and to Firehawks, but I need a little help please. Not sure if this is the right category to post this, if not, mods let me know.

I've found the #480 build of the 1994 Firehawk for sale. If I buy it, I will register it on the site with all the details. But I'm hoping for input from the group to make that decision. :)

According to the registry, this car has the VERY rare 1SA option group, 1 or only 3 made that year. I've looked and looked and looked, searching for what that option actually is, but have not been able to find out what it consists of. Hopefully someone can enlighten me?

About the car...of course, you can look up the build number to see the RPO's (what does RPO mean?) and see how it came from the factory. The one thing that doesn't match or make sense to me is RPO QLC (P245/50ZR16 performance tires)...the car actually has P275/40ZR17's on it...and the wheels definitely all have the Firehawk center caps. ??? Everything else matches perfectly.

More about the car....according to the owner, here are the mods/upgrades that have been done. The stock exhaust system has been replaced with 3" pipe from manifolds to tips (TOTL) and fitted with a Flowmaster muffler (transverse mounted) and the entire exhaust system has been coated by HPC (High Performance Coatings) inside and out. The stock ignition has been refitted with an MSD HO, and the intake manifold has been raised slightly with a spacer. Aftermarket security alarm installed.

The car's condition is nearly immaculate...the paint looks factory new, the interior looks nearly new, and has 43,000 miles on the clock. Everything in the car works and has always been gararged and is a one owner car (I verified this through CarFax...everything makes sense and is straight). All service records and manuals/paperwork are present...very well maintained. The only thing that needs to be done to the car is replace the tires (dry rot), battery and a good detailing.

Price is $7000 FIRM. Deal or no deal?

Any feedback , thoughts and input would be REALLY appreciated, since I've really always been a Corvette guy...thanks for your help guys!

"The stock ignition has been refitted with an MSD HO, and the intake manifold has been raised slightly with a spacer"

I recant my previous statement. I just did a quick skim last time , now that I actually read it...
..
I've never heard of an intake manifold spacer for the LT1, really is no need to put and msd ignition system on and its not as rare as you think since its been modified . $7k firm(?) That's debatable .. The TOTL muffler is the kicker. That is more rare then the car its self. Taking that off for me is the nail in the coffin.

It has not been taken off...it's still TOTL, just with a HPC coating and Flowmaster muffler fitted.

I'll say this, if it wasn't for the intake manifold spacer I'd say go for it but thats just a useless, unnecessary thing to do. Maybe someone else will chime in

Yes, AFAIK...the only changes are the coating applied and the Flowmaster muffler...

That would be a relatively easy fix...just take it off...

One of the unrecognized and unanswered points in my post is that the car is VERY low optioned cars (1 of 3, 1SA package)...is that important or no?

From my searching capabilities, it's just a standard options package. Found somewhere that in '93 there were 5,3xx TA's and 5,2xx had that RPO code. Sounds like it may have varied of what was exactly included in that package as the years went on, but it was some sort of combo between electronics, power this and that. Nothing to be excited about. Number of thread of people asking about that RPO code on LS1Tech, all soft answers since the packages slightly differed each year.

Why would something as minor as a spacer turn you off from buying a car?

Because it's the 1st time I have ever heard of an Lt1 intake manifold having one. It just sounds weird to me. It just seems like a useless accessory, something along the lines of an electric supercharger to make "more power"
