Price

Post by Ijust4gotit » Fri Dec 04, 2015 11:08 pm

Firehawk fans,

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I didn't see it in the feed. I have disclosed to a few close friends what I paid for my 10th anniversary hawk. They all think I paid too much. What are the fair prices to pay for one of these things. I'll explain mine and maybe that will help with price point. 2001 Firehawk 10 Anniversary, 74000 miles, clean title. It does have a small dent in the passenger rear fender (I think paintless dent remover can pull it) and maybe 5-6 tiny areas paint needs touch up. Had it quoted for 600 from a buddy who does this stuff every day. There's a small tear in the driver seat (less than 1"), other than that it's all there and rather beautiful.
Anyway, what are the going rates for this rare car? I felt as though I got a great deal for what it is. I'd just like people more familiar with the car to explain it's worth so I can show my friends this is far from a standard trans am formula when it comes to price

The car is black, to touch it up right its going to need a full repaint , any touch up is more than likely to show and finding authentic gold stripes is a needle in a hay field... Me, $15-18k maybe (?)

Okay, I'll ask, ..., How much did you pay for it?
IMO, I kind of agree with Bryan, but might shoot a little bit lower because of the miles & the damage.

Are you happy with it? If so what your friend thinks is irrelevant. The only time that # matters is if you are trying to flip it for a profit. If it was worth the amount of money you paid for it to you, then that is all that matters.

Plus, wait five years and ask him again. The price will eventually go back up.

I'm toward the bottom of what Bryan suggested to pay, I picked it up for 16k, and yes I belive it was worth every penny. Thanks for all the answers!

If you just need to convince your friends go to: http://www.nadaguides.com/Classic-Cars/ ... SLP/Values

It shows the value to be $13,000 to $21,900, and that's without the additional 2001 Anniversary Package. I don't think you got a great deal, maybe an average deal because of the damage?

That's what I figured, I knew I didn't steal the car but I felt like I paid a fair price for what it was. I knew it needed work and wanted a car that did, it keeps me busy and constantly learning. Thank you all for the comments.
On a completely different subject I know some friends (contractors) who work with they guys at SLP occasionally. I have them asking about replacement decals for the cars. I'm not sure what will come of it, but I wanted to try at the very least. If not Im just going to get the entire care repainted stripes and door decals too.

If you look around there are likely multiple vendors that make the decals. Vinyl is not all that hard to find.

Getting the stripes painted on is the route I would personally take. Only tough part between both aftermarket and painted stripes is color/ style matching the gold blend as they are on the OEM stripes

I think you got a very nice and collectable car for a very good price. Plus it is a fun vehicle to drive and you will see very few of these on the road. Car show, even then maybe see them. As long as you are satisfied with your purchase and price that is all that matters.

Plus did I mention they are a blast to drive.
