2018 FAOA Rally Wager

Post by Firehawk » Fri Mar 09, 2018 10:02 am

Last year Wayne, Mac and I got talking that we need to figure out how to get our cars to the rally in 2018. 2017 made it 3 years my car had not made it, Mac was around 4+ years and Wayne is longer than that.

So we made a little wager.

Mac and I bet $100 each that Wayne wouldn't bring his car. Wayne shows up with one of his cars, Mac and I owe him $100 each. We owe him money, only if we do not bring our cars. We bring our cars, we don't have to pay. We bring our cars and Wayne doesn't bring his car, he pays us. Basically show up with your car, pay no money. :)

That being said, last weekend I purchased oil, oil filter, two brass gear headlight fix it kits and now just waiting for the weather to break so I can work on the car. Todo list:
  • Change oil and filter
  • Fix Headlight's
  • Turn or replace rotors and maybe brake pads
  • Find/Book trailer
Come on summer!

Wayne/Mac, how is it looking on your end?

Oh, so it's a mechanical bitch-slap you're laying down :P Glad to hear your Hawk is getting some TLC.

Well seeing as I now work for myself my schedule is open. Just did a 6,600 miles road trip to see if the path is clear of wild animals and unfriendly natives. Other that a few, now dead, sparrows the coast appears clear.

I need to decide which Firehawk is going and if its driving or on a trailer. 2,000 miles x 2 is a long way in a 23 year old car.

It's about the journey as much as the destination, make it a great memory

4 words: "Hot Rod Power Tour".. lots of cars well over 23yrs old!

but if someone needs a driver :D .. I didn't see that in the rules it has to be the owner who drives, just as long as the car is there! :D

I haven’t been with my car since 2004!!! Wow!!!
From 2004 I’ve been to the rally with my GTO in 06, the STS-V in 2009, Joe’s Benz in 2011?? That one I forgot exactly what year. Minnie’s Tahoe in 2015. I’ve been to the rally twice as much without my car!

This year I’m planning on coming with 2!

I will be driving the 1999. Need to order new tires. Mounted on on other wheels. Bring the truck with the original Firehawk wheels and tires and swap out at the motel. Original tires are not dry rot. They are just harder than hell and ride like shit. But, on the other side. They spin real easy even when the auto changes shift points. Happy to hear Dragan is making it. Looking forward to being $200.00 richer. (lol)

I drove a Hawk in 1997 (the 1995), 2003 (the 2002 ragtop) and 2010 (the LT4)
I am definitely due.

I was also a part of this bet. And I finally got my car started a week ago for the first time since October 2014.
