2002 Sunset Orange Metallic Trans Am Firehawk

Post by 2002 red hawk » Thu Apr 11, 2019 10:28 pm

Car #797 is finally home to stay. Lord willing, I will never part with this car. It currently has camel interior, which has to go. Am replacing it with black. Both camel door panels are cracked. Got pristine black dyed panels to replace. Got new black factory leather to replace the camel seats. Also got new black carpet to replace the current carpet which has a hole under the gas pedal. No interior shots because I hate camel. It's a manual. https://imgur.com/jUIR3do https://imgur.com/F18py9M https://imgur.com/4ZBLVJJ https://imgur.com/glFUufL https://imgur.com/949klyB https://imgur.com/uAtQBl3

The car will be getting long tube headers, high flow cats, a Loudmouth 2 muffler & the stock tips are going back on. The hood is scratched & has a couple bubbles. Both headlight doors have some chips & the front fascia as well. The Firehawk emblem on the nose has an eye. Paint is missing where his eye would be. The sail panel is showing the tell tale signs of delaminating. All aforementioned items will be getting addressed soon. This car has to be brought up to my other 2 Bird's standards.

Any lowered Hawk with the Iroc spoiler is killer looking. That spoiler makes the car. https://imgur.com/XS5CPUy https://imgur.com/wTwm2tW https://imgur.com/JZJo7JI https://imgur.com/NPmF8j3 Some better pictures taken with my Canon 5D mark 3. Takes much better pictures than my cell.

How are the mods coming along? I did extensive mods to my car. H/C/I LT's, Watts Link, Subframes, CAI, Z06 clutch/Oil pump. 42lb injectors. I am very happy with my mods.

Car is locked down in storage. It will be August before I can get it registered & bring it home to start the mod process. Pita to take tools to storage, no power, & try to work. Always forgetting something. So I gave up & will wait until it is in my garage.

Got insurance on it Thursday. Got an appointment to drop off the seats at an upholstery shop Monday to have the seats recovered in black leather. While the seats are out, the carpet is being replaced. DMV Monday morning to register it. Then, even if I have to sit on an egg crate, I'm gonna drive it.

Got the camel seats out yesterday. Dropped them off at a local upholstery shop along with some factory replacement leather, in black. The carpet is nasty. Especially under the rear seats. Candy, wrappers, crackers. Gonna take advantage of the seats being out to swap the carpet. I just wish it wasn't August. https://imgur.com/jDSYTqJ Here it is with only 2 of the driver's seat nuts left. I had the seat all the way forward to unplug the motor & air. Forgot I only broke loose the front nuts on the driver's seat. With no power to move thew seat back, I had to lay on the floor to stick a 13mm combination wrench back to the covered nuts. Then, backing the car into it's garage was an exciting ordeal. No bolts were holding the seat down.

Got the newly recovered seats back today. Shop recommended leaving the seats out in the sun for 2 days to get the leather to settle. The sun hasn't shined all week. It's raining as I type this. With our cars being 17 + years old, I had forgotten how soft the seat leather was when new.

Carpet is laying across my red Firehawk to relax. Plan on starting the installation next Saturday morning.

All holes are cut in the padding in preparation for the carpet. Graphite is the color I got.
