Like someone else stated, it is all about what the buyer is willing to pay. I was fortunate enough to purchase an immaculate, mint condition '95 Firehawk in September and I paid somewhere in between what you guys both paid. My car has 22k on it. The car new as almost $40k and the original owner probably sunk another $5-$10k in mods. So I have a car that probably cost the oringal owner close to $50k and I got it for less than $20k. Do LT1s bring less? It all depends on the car, options, miles, condition, aftermarket mods, etc. Of course the LS1s are newer so they should sell for more but there are always exceptions. I'd put my car up against most LS1s as far as performance and condition!Firebuzzard wrote:Three months ago I bought a 1995 Firehawk convertible for $24,500. Did I pay too much for it? Some say yes, I say no. It cost $34,800 when new in 1995...and its still like new. It was stored in a original owners house, and it had 2525 miles when I bought it...now its got 2900 miles. It is shwroom new condition. I wanted a new 1995 Firehawk when they were new, but at that time I cold not afford it. Now I have my new 1995 Firehawk convertible for $10,000 less than what it cost in 1995. You got a great deal!Pokeyhawk wrote:I bought a 95 Hawk this past summer with 58K miles on it. It has some mods (subframes, headers, exhaust, swaybars, lowering springs, etc.) and was garage kept. It is a very clean car. I paid $9500 for it. I feel that the price was about right, but I have noticed that the LT1 cars aren't bringing alot of money right now. Did I overpay? I don't really know, but I am very happy with the car. Just thought I would add my 2 cents to the firehawk value post.

A 95 Hawk vert cost under $35K new, and a 95 Hawk coupe cost around $40K? A vert option runs about $4K, right? So that 95 vert would have been about $31K without the vert option, right?
Is that right? I don't get it. Did a Hawk in 95 have around $9K in optional content available?
I've never heard of an LT1 coupe Hawk running a sticker price that high.

Mine IS a convertible. I'm rounding up on the figures but I have a copy of the original invoice and the car lists at $38XXX. I don't know if the dealer added extra costs into the car but that is what it sold for. It had almost every option available and was the higher performance version (315 vs 305 hp).

OK, I just didn't figure for such drastic rounding, and that you did have a vert.
So then the TOTL exhaust option was about $4K then?
Thanks for the details, guys.

Come on, who here has bought his Firebird for the hope of it increasing in value? Sure, there may be people out there, but unless they have multiple F-Bodies and get one special just for show & increase of values, I would dare to be just about anybody here has bought the car because it looks great, performs quite well, or beat the sh@t out of those d@mn ricers
Me, I got mine when I had the chance - I've had a 98 Camaro 'vert V6 since 01, and would have much rather had a Firebird then. Well, now I have my Firebird, and even a special one - it won't see much more than maybe around 5000mi per year (thanks to outrages gas and spare part prices in Germany), but apart from that, you can bet I will enjoy just about every single (quarter) mile I do in it!!!

I know Hawk owners who have made money on their buy/sell. They're the ones who don't modify their Hawks. I know a guy who makes 5-digit profits on quick turnarounds of CETAs, WS6s, and some Hawks.Garry wrote:Come on, who here has bought his Firebird for the hope of it increasing in value?

They have been here, but not as much in winter. They have hung out in Gen D forum, events, and in tech forum for repairs/maint threads, usually avoiding the mod threads. I don't know if they hung out in FS forum - I don't, but I would if I had extra cash laying around (I'd like a 10th vert, and those will be hard to find).

Well, finding one for collector's reasons here in Germany is close to impossible ... I know of one other Firehawk, owned by an active duty American in Bavaria (and also member of F-Body Europe), _heavily_ modded, another Firehawk is listed in the owners database, name and location tend to look like it's an american, too, tried to contact him, but haven't received an answer. That's probably about all ... so until I meet another german Firehawk owner, I guess I'll just pretend I'm the only german in Germany that has one Guess that makes it more exclusive than a stinkin' Ferrari, Viper, or whatever

I think one should drop an LS1 in a Gremlin with a ram air hood. Now THAT would be cool! Take that to the track.
