Has anyone here from Ohio, tried getting collector car plates for your firehawk. I was wondering if anyone has had any problems obtaining these plates being that our cars are a bit newer and not classics. I got the paper and it says that they could qualify cause they are limited edition cars. Any thoughts on this?

I live in Ohio and have Collector Plates on my Firehawk. I originally purchased these to avoid the E-Check. My Firehawk is all stock, but the thought of someone else driving it or hooking electrical devices to it, didn't sit well with me. I filled in the State of Ohio's Application and also sent with it a letter explaining why I thought it should be considered as a Collectible, 2 color pictures and a copy of the NADA Guide stating it was a Collectible. It was approved and I was given a Collectible Plate. The State was still nice enough, to charge me the additinal $20.00, even though the Firehawk didn't have to go through the E-Check. It will be interesting to see, if they still charge me the $20.00 this year, since E-Check has gone away. Good luck! Obrink 2000 Red Firehawk Conv. 6 spd.

do they have mileage restrictions with having those plates? Or were there any rules about how you could use the car. It didn't say anything like that on the application. i know if you have historial plates they have a bunch of restrictions on them.

You don't have any mileage limitations, but you do have to have another vehicle, that you use for your primary transportation. On the application, you have to state in fact what the plate number of your promary transportation is. There is also a disclaimer at the bottom that you have to sign, stating again, it's not your daily driver. The verbage goes: This vehicle is not the only motor vehicle registered in my name and is not my principle means of transportation. This vehicle is of special interest, being of special make, model, or style, and is maintained as a collector's item, leisure pursuit, or investment. If requested, I can supply paperwork from a car club, auto collector, or other proof that this vehicle is a vehicle of special interest. This application is made in good faith and not to evade any law, including Ohio Revised Code section 3704.14, which requires vehicle emission testing in some Ohio counties. Then you sign. Again, good luck! Obrink 2000 Red Firehawk Conv. 6 Spd.

Hey thanks for the help. The mileage thing was my big concern. Not that im going to drive it all the time, but i don't want to be limited to where i can go if i feel like i want to take a small trip or something. Might be something i go for then.

My build number is 0583. The only show I go to is the Trans Am Nationals in Dayton, Ohio and I usually don't even drive the Firehawk when I go there. I don't like to think of my Firehawk as a garage queen, but it doesn't go out when theres even a hint that it might rain. The car has only been in the rain once and thats when I was trailering it home. I average about 1000 miles a year on the car. We have a local cruse in on Friday nights I take it to. It's in Milford, Ohio. Some Fridays they'll have upwards of 500 cars. Car has a few minor chips in the front and is all stock other than a Raven muffler. Car is a blast to drive with the top down. I'm in heaven just listening to the exhaust note, as I'm crusing. I've been a Pontiac Fan since I was 16. At some point I would like to go to Norwalk, but I really don't want to drive it that far. Even though I have a decent tow vehicle, I currently don't own a trailer. My Ohio Plate is FIRHAWK. In Ohio were limited to 7 characters. Obrink
