Email from GM about exporting

Post by Darren Orr » Tue May 15, 2001 10:59 pm

Hey guys, here is an email form gm about me wanting to export a trans am, this is what they said.

General Motors does not recommend that you purchase a vehicle in the United
States or Canada and export it overseas for the following reasons:

? General Motors Dealers in Australia are not authorized to service the
Pontiac vehicles, thus, you may encounter difficulties in obtaining
service and parts due to a lack of resources in the dealership.

? The General Motors New Vehicle Warranty on vehicles sold in the United
States and Canada is applicable in North America only. GMODC on the
other hand, furnishes its customers with a New Vehicle Warranty that
is recognized by the GMODC network of dealers in your country.

? General Motors does not support the practice of U.S. Dealers selling
product to customers exporting vehicles into countries where General
Motors Dealers already operate to sell and service our products.

? Each country has different safety and emission standards. The vehicle
may need modifications to meet these standards before the vehicle is
able to be registered. Any modifications would be at your expense,
whereas GMODC Dealers are responsible to provide vehicles with all
appropriate government legislated modifications in place.

We value you as a General Motors customer and encourage you to exercise the
services of the GMODC Dealers to meet your transportation needs in your
current situation to ensure the highest degree of customer satisfaction.

If you would like to inquire further about purchasing a General Motors
product or whether these will be available, we suggest you contact your
nearest Authorized General Motors Dealership in Australia, and discuss with
them which vehicles are available through GMODC that would best suit your
needs.
