FirehawkFest Questionnaire

Post by Bob Deffenbaugh » Mon Jan 29, 2001 11:46 am

Hi,

I know the 3rd Annual FirehawkFest is still a long ways off, but I would
like to get your input as to what you would like to see at this year's
event.

I have not heard anything from the Sacramento chapter of the Pontiac Club as
far as the dates for their car show this coming fall. This year they will
only be doing a "Show and Shine" which will most likely be held the car
dealership where they had their show in 1999. They only do their "big" car
show every other year and this is their off year so it will be a small event
much like it was for the 1st Annual FirehawkFest. Those that attended in
1999 will know what I am talking about.

Here is what I would like to do. I want a dinner on Saturday night of the
Fest. Most likely at the same location as last year as it was quite well
received. If we decide to join the Pontiac club for their "Show and Shine"
we can do that during the day on Saturday or on the Sunday of that weekend.
On the other weekend day we can have our own show "For Firehawks Only" at
the same park where the car show was last year. We can get a couple of
barbecues out there and have a very informal get-together with participant
voting for our own awards presented by the FAOA. If we have some early
arrivals for the Fest we could also do a BBQ on Friday night to get things
started off. Like I said I am open to all ideas as this is your Fest. Let
me know what you would like to see.

So, most likely it would be on Saturday, October 6th that we would be part
of the Pontiac Club's "Show and Shine" during the day at Elk Grove Pontiac.
That night we would have our dinner at Cattlemens Restaurant. Then on
Sunday October 7th we would all meet at Elk Grove Park for our "Firehawks
Only" Car Show/BBQ. I have contacted Reg Harris from SLP and asked him to
be our guest speaker once again and he has graciously accepted. He also
promised to not lose his all of his luggage this year along with his
prepared material and I will allow more time for the question and answer
session that follows his talk with us. I know this was most popular last
year. I am also working on getting the sponsors back from last year in
addition to obtaining new sponsors for additional prizes for this year's
Fest.

Right now this is all very preliminary and nothing has been done as I would
like to know what you think about my ideas before setting forth with making
plans. I do not plan on any racing events.

There is also something new that will be implemented this year. There will
be a $5 charge for all those who attend the FirehawkFest. In the past I
have been ordering t-shirts and watches to try and cover the cost of the
trophies and awards that are handed out. This has been a major problem as I
have always had merchandise left over after the Fest. So, hopefully by
charging a fee for the Fest I can cut way back on the number of t-shirts
that I order. Perhaps we can do a pre-sale on the shirts before I order
them. Like I said, things are still very much up in the air as far as what
is going to happen at he Fest this year. We are still growing and and with
your help we can expand and become bigger and better with each passing year.

Please respond ASAP so that you don't forget about this letter. If you plan
on attending I want your opinions!

Sincerely, Bob

I like it!
The before and after BBQs are a great idea. This allows for more socializing. (Don't forget the BAR!) Chairs and shade are a good idea, too!
I would only add that part of the draw is the fact that when the event centers around a car show, there may be more Hawk owners attending due to the fact that there are other cars there, too. It may therefore be only natural for the attendance to be less for off-years.
We will still have a blast.

I'm glad you like the idea. I think we can incorporate a little gathering for a cook-out and a few brews on ice to get to know one another a bit better. These car shows are more about the people than the cars anyway, it's just a common bond that we all have that brings us together. After last year, Bob, I expect you to show up again! Maybe back to back Grand Prizes???? Hope you're enjoying those new Firestone Firehawk tires!! Regards, Bob Deffenbaugh; 1993 Firehawk #110 and Organizer of the west coast FirehawkFest

Bob,
I would very much like to attend your hawkfest. I enjoyed your luncheon last year with Reg Harris as your guest speaker. I just bought a 10th ann. Xmen firehawk.
If you need some help, maybe our new club could lend a hand. We are into all pontiac firebird class activities.[Just a thought] Please keep me posted of your plans.
Thanks,
