What are the 2003 dates?

Post by 02hawk796 » Wed Nov 13, 2002 9:42 pm

Does anybody know the dates for the 2003 Rally and/or Fest?
My vacation picks for 2003 are coming up soon and I need to know which dates I need to negotiate off. I'd like to come this year. I couldn't make the 2002 because I didn't know which dates soon enough.
Thanks, Ron.

Looks like another Pontiac Nationals on June 7th and 8th at Cordova raceway near the Quad Cities.

Maybe we could use this as a mini FAOA gathering? :)

That looks interesting, Matt. Who sponsors or coordinators this event? A company or group?

Well, the Pontiac Nationals in Norwalk is largely sponsored by Ames Performance as well as Superduty productions. I would imagine they are going after another good Pontiac based business, but I didn't read too far into it to see it.

Are you coming down for it?

As far as the FirehawkFest2003 goes, I am planning on either 09/27/03 or 10/18/03. I am open to hearing what others think about the dates. It will be one or the other and I'm about 95% sure that it will be back in the Sacramento area again for 2003. I would like to get a date firmed up shortly so those who have to plan vacations far in advance will be able to do so. Let me know what you think.

not sure, but I can try. I'm going to try and post something for this on my event posting at the Wisconsin site. Do you by chance know how many miles this is from Janesville? As I recall, Sterling or Rock Falls is under 1.5 hours (80 miles?), but farther than that I'm a bit rusty, like 15 years.
Speaking of which, how far into IA are you? are you coming to the spring cruise in So WI on May 10? All friends driving an F-body are welcome, and you all would be friends of mine.

Don't know about the spring Cruise. Didn't even know about it. I'm 2 hrs from the Ill border, basically in central Iowa. Janesville would be 5-6 hrs for me I'm guessing since Chicago is 5 hrs.

I don't have any graduations that I know of so it might be a good possibility :)

ok, you're 2 hrs from the river.
try
http://webpages.charter.net/damonz28/springcruise/
for the cruise site. it's not updated, so ignore the narrative and cruise directions from spring 2002, but reference it as the date approaches. looks like the 2003 spring cruise starts in Wildwood, IL which yahoo maps indicates is closer to the WI border than Chicago. It's your call, but more fun in my Hawk I've rarely had than these cruises (we're all in radio contact). The fall cruise usually starts near Rockford and winds north again.
I'll put it this way: if you had a cruise going that started near the quads, I'd try to get time off and come over.
if Chi is 5 hrs for you, I'd think Janesville would be about 4.
It looks like Cordova is right on the river, just NE of the Quads. So from the WI border just north of Rockford, you think the drive to Cordova would be about 1.5 hrs? WI has more Hawks in Janesville than any other ZIP code.
now that I think about it, the banks of the river north of the quads should have some cool roads, like going towards and away from the river - that could be a neat option during this Cordova day. (but not during dusk)
Oh, and if you're having probs finding the WI site again, it got changed to www.brewcitymuscle.com

In consideration of the long haulers and especially those who have to traverse the high country I chose the earlier of the 2 dates that were being considered. The FirehawkFest2003 or FF5 will be held on the weekend of September 27, 2003. The location will most likely be in the Sacramento area again as it was the first 3 years. After the first of the year I will get going on the planning stages for the events.
