2003 Convoy to the Firehawk Rally

Post by Matt B » Fri Jun 13, 2003 9:34 am

If any of you are planning on attending this years Firehawk Rally in Norwalk, and heading in from the West via I-80 please let me know so we can arrange to hook up with the Convoy!

For those of you who haven't been there, getting there is half the fun, especially if you are travelling with fellow Hawk / Pontiac owners. Last year there was 20 cars descending upon Norwalk by the time we reached Toledo, Ohio. I hope to improve upon that again this year and possibly hit 25 cars! rollingeye

So, if you are making plans to attend and this is on your route...post it here and let me know so I can add you to the convoy list and we can pick out a meeting point. I'll be adding the map with pickup points this weekend, but everything is changeable!

Send me your info via email. I'm assuming you are planning on meeting at the same spot as Gerry?

Gulp. 2 hrs away by 8am. I'll have to check things out. I'd better also check with Gerry. Is Rudy coming? That looks better than driving through Chi town on Fri morning.

What info you need?

I have not heard from Rudy at all, so if you could contact him and find out that would be great.

Info..I wanted to make sure you were receiving the convoy mailings and make sure I had the right name / email address.

Thanks

Have not attend a Rally before. My Wife, Son and I will be coming to Sandu sky. We'll be heading up from Mason, MI (near Lansing). Would be interested in joining up with any members along the way. Detroit? a good meeting place? We are entertaining leaving Thursday, or early Friday.

I can also be reached at: 517-663-4523, or 517-206-8667

Dave:

Check out the map online and let me know where you would like to join up: http://www.thebennettcompanies.com/2003convoy.htm

It doesn't have to be a preset meeting point either, as I can add you in along the way.

Ooooh, this post just gave me some goose bumps!

I just recently headed up an Eastbound convoy along that same route from Richland, WA. to Pontiac, MI.

My caravan was with Pontiacs too! :D All-be-it, they were the smaller sport versions. Yes, we had a pack of Fieros decsend into Pontiac, MI to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the introduction of the Fiero.

Over 400 Fieros were present and 340 were judged in the car show.

With the number of different engine conversions (3800SC, 4.9 Caddy, Northstar, 383 Lingenfelter, LT1's, etc.) that had been performed there were a few Fieros there that could embarras our Hawks. Although I would never tell them that.

Unfortunately, I need to stay closer to home for my next Firehawk show. I would love to go to Norwalk but I just drove 5000 miles in my Fiero and driving to work is now too long of a drive.

Remember to post pics for those of us who can't attend.

If Norwalk is too far for you, then plan on attending the FirehawkFest in Sacramento on the 26th, 27th and 28th of September.
We'd love to have you :D

Dave,

I'll get you added to the map hopefully this weekend :) Try and get a 2 way radio also. It will definetly make the trip more fun.

We usually pull off at that exit to gas up for the final leg, not to mention meeting a couple other there. If I remember correctly there is an Amoco station there...so we will be shooting for that.

The Super 8 motel in Geneseo, IL is filled up for Thursday night, August 7th. I guess we'll have to plan on being there about the time you start to roll out on Friday morning. See you at 7AM Friday then......

Bob,

Is there an alternate hotel around there. If I remember correctly, there should be a hotel across the strett from the Super 8.

I'll do some checking when I get home later this afternoon. I'm working a corvette show today :)
