2nd WI gathering of Hawks (near IL stateline)

Post by 02hawk796 » Sat Jun 22, 2002 9:08 pm

The 2nd WI gathering of Firehawks will flock to Damon's in Janesville at 4pm on Sun, July 7th, 2002. Damon's is on Hwy 14, and a little cruise or drive might preceed the 4pm meet.
If you are interested or have questions, please post here, or a point of contact will be posted here soon.
All Firehawks and their owners are welcome and encouraged to attend, even if the hawk is unavailable for this day. Guests, gawkers, and admirers are also welcome to attend, but the focus here will be Firehawks. Hawk owners unable to attend are encouraged to post ideas here, or email ronwschaefer@yahoo.com

Future activities/events will also be discussed at this time, so feel free to provide input, even if you are unable to attend.
Next event still to be determined.

The cruise has been cancelled.
Looks like Hawks planning to attend are from Green Bay, Madison area, Milwaukee area, Janesville, maybe Waupun, Tomah, Fox Valley, and maybe a '94 from Edgerton.
See ya at 4pm.
Ron.

Glad to meet new Hawk owners. :D Also glad some pics were taken of my Hawk, because it doesn't look like that anymore. On the way home on I-43, deer commited suicide by Firehawk.

On I-43 at marker #30. had low beams for oncoming traffic, about to go to high. in right lane, cruise at 65. saw deer standing still with hind on paved left shoulder, fore in left lane. Max braked, so deer jumped in front of car. triangulation looked reaql bad, so swerved into left lane to miss rear of deer, still under max braking (no skid marks anywhere on the road). find 2nd deer standing still behind where 1st one was, facing opposite way. crap. 2nd one not moving, 1st one is, so tried to squeeze bewteen the two. 1st one din't move fast enough. while in left lane, did miss 2nd one.
got pass miiror popped out, pass light assembly wasted, and that gouged out some of hood. nose buckled a little, some stress cracks, and something sheared under top of nose where it meets hood, and nose mashed into hood, taking some chips from leading edge of hood, and some cracks in top of hoodscoop, mostly visible due to deer hair growing vertically out of the hoodscoop.

bummer.
mirror-$30. headlight cover-$20, headlight carriage assembly piece (white metal) - not sold seperately, next higher assembly- $350. new hood - ? new nose - ? heard a hawk got caught in texas flood, less than 200 miles, so maybe used headlight assy, hood, nose might work out ok.

OUCH! Sorry to hear that Ron. Glad you are OK though. The car can be fixed. Was the deer insured? :) Black shouldn't be to hard to match. Good luck. BRETT
