Calgary Cruise

Post by tazman71 » Fri Feb 04, 2005 10:32 am

Is anyone planning on attending from the Great Lakes/Chicago area?
What are your plans for getting there, what nites do you plan on staying at the hotel. I called to book a room, and they are to be prepayed, and are non refundable. Just don't want to make a reservation for a room and not be there on the correct nites.

I'm going, but I'm from Des Moines. We are planning on leaving on We to allow for a more casual trip up there, and see a few things in the Black Hills on the way up there, then depart Sunday and should be back in town Tues. I would guess it would take a 2 solid days of driving to make it.

I can't remember for sure, but I think thats what it took Mac to get to Des Moines.

I've already made my reservations, and I think Bob D (HawkLT1) is considering going as well from the Quad Cities.

I have my reservations. If anyone from the Michigan, Chicago, Indiana area, or are heading through the area, leave a post or email me. tazman71@comcast.net or firehawk1237@yahoo.com
Matt, What time are you planning on leaving on Wednesday? I am leaving on Tuesday. Could hookup with you if you want the company.

Chad,

I haven't set a time yet, but plan on working on it sometime next week. I'll let you know. Your more than welcome to come along with us (or vice versa). I do plan on making one stop in South Dakota to check out the Black Hills but other than that its just cruising to Calgary.

Guys,

Great news Chad.

Not sure how long you want to make your days of how fast you cruise.

I can reach Des Moines in 2 days no sweat. Chi-town was about 30 hours Chad. Matt has the right idea, take a tour and enjoy the trip. I hit Mt. Rushmore and the Crazy Horse Memorial in the Black Hills.

That must be a casual drive, as I plan on making one leg of the trip in two long days. I know I can drive 1k miles in a day, so two days should cover it. I think my fast trip will likely be on the way home so I am less frazzled while in Calgary.

I plan on taking 3 days each way. That way I can enjoy the trip. Who knows when I will ever make it out that way again.

I wish I could take longer, but I have too many trips planned this year, so my vacation time is already allotted. Actually, I am also going to try and make the rally, but to do so I will have to trade dasys with other people here at work, so it looks doubtfull. The Calgary cruise I just could not miss.

Bump. Just wanted to see if anyone would like to hook up on the way. I am currently planning on hooking up with Matt in Iowa.
I will be leaving northern Indiana on Tuesday, and stopping in Iowa at the end of the day. Leave me a message if you would like to hook up.
Matt, leave me your email, and maybe we can set a place and time to catch up.

*Bad news on bringing the Firehawk. My new 396 has a nasty vibration and I'm pulling it in the next 2 days so It may not be finished in time to bring it to Calgary, although I'm still coming!

Did this just start, or did you just finish the motor? I would check simple things first, like the clutch and flywheel before pulling the motor.

I thought it was the clutch/flywheel but its balanced. I just had the flywheel rebalanced (it was only out 10grams) but they couldn't spin the clutch up at this shop. (its a Mcleod Street twin).

I just finished getting the motor running in May and its always had this vibration. :( I've tried all the simple stuff already.

Matt,

How goes the motor work? Any luck with a solution?

Found out today that the crank was balanced for an externally balanced flywheel, which they told me otherwise. So I should have it back this week and by the 25th-26th I should have it back in the car.
