Those tires are "years old" as stated in the ad. Be careful if you're looking for tires for normal use.

I still have the original tires on my ws6, which I bought new in 2002. Tits finally wore off in 2011. 3587 miles as of today. Water based tire dressing religiously applied to both inner & outer sidewalls. Still look mint. These tires were kept in a climate controlled building, They should be ok, mine are.

Fine for display. But it's risky taking 15-20 yr old tires out on the roads at 50-70 mph. Rubber ages no matter what you do you to protect it. Much of that is from exposure to ozone. Inner belts fail over time. Unless you stored your tires in a climate controlled vacuum there's a much higher probability of failure no matter how good they look. 2 years ago I took off the orig tires on my '99. They had 15K miles and looked perfect inside and out, no cracks, 40% wear, never seen a track or a burnout. Never left out in the direct sun and only see about 2 hours of light outside every 2 weeks. Part of that is that I don't want my roof panel paint to start bubbling either.

Too much literature out there about similar "garage queen" tires with low miles that gave out unexpectedly on the highway....while taking out quarter panels, fenders, rims, etc....not to mention the other guy if you run into them. It's a lot cheaper in the end to pay $600/set of quality tires if you put 500-1,000 or more miles per year on your tires. I started to ponder what my insurance company would say after a blowout that I was driving on 15 year old tires when tire manufacturers and dealers recommend replacing no later than 6-8 years, and in no way ever go past 10 yrs. I felt lucky getting 15 yrs but wasn't going to push it any more. I felt my car's pristine condition and my life were worth spending $55/yr on (ie the cost of my current set of tires over 10 yrs). If you're going to stick to driving around town at 25-40 mph, then you might be able to get buy on orig tires. How many FH owners will do that?

Tires are really only good for 5-10 years. You can keep them from dry rotting by putting dressing on them but they need to move around or they get brittle and can lead to a blow out. If it is for show purposes you shouldn't have any issues but I certainly would not go rolling down the highway on 20 year old tires.

Edit: A good read on old tires: http://www.edmunds.com/car-care/how-old ... tires.html
