my best guess would be 285/40/17 , 285/40/17 or 295/35/17

Using a tire size calculator, if I go to 295/35/17, I gain 3/4" width. My speedometer will be off by 1.4 mph and I lose 1/2" to 3/4" in every other category (diameter, circumference, height).

If I go to 315/35/17, all other categories basically do not change, but I gain 1.5" in width. No change in the speedo.

I have read many posts here saying do NOT go to 315s, but I assume that is with stock wheel width. What do you think?

If you want wider wheels, do yourself and buy a new set. Widening wheels is against DOT regulations because it is not safe.

you can do 315's, but from what i'v heard/read, depending on the back spacing you'll have to roll the fenders and/or beat the inter wheel wells in to limit any tire rubbing.

I know. I couldn't buy 18" Firehawk wheels so I bought a different set.

I may just have to try it out. From what I can research 315s only widen the tire 1.5". All other dimensions stay essentially the same as stock. Hard to believe 1.5" will cause rubbing...on the rear tires that is.

Put on the 315s on the rear and they are awesome! They do rub once in a while if i go around a corner at speed, but that is the only time. I will need to do something about that, but all in all they are fine.

I ran a 315 on a 17x9.5 Konig flight wheel on my 96 Z28. No problem with them.

Whoa, I have 11" A/R wheels AND 315's ,stock suspension, NO BFH mod, NO wheel lip roll, nothing and NO rubbing issues what so ever, even with 3 people and my fat arse in the car, zilch! :D You just have to have the correct offset wheels.
:naughty:

Camaros are the ones that you almost definitely have to roll the fenders. The Birds have... bigger butts if you will and you can put more junk in the proverbial trunk.

I just put 95 chrome zr1 wheels on my 02 hawk 17x11 on the rear with the 315s bilstien suspension. No rubs at all. Still smokes the tire, but the car loves the corners even more.
