Headers and tune?

Post by matt » Mon Nov 07, 2011 7:41 pm

Just installed Mac midlengths on my 93 Hawk M6. The install was a breeze. I used there 2 1/2 " ypipe and there 3" off road pipe instead of using the cat. All was bolt on and lined up really nice. Running a Hooker Aero muffler. Noticeable power increase measured by the seat of the pants. Pulls hard compared to before. Also running a 160 degree thermostat. I am thinking about a tune (chip for my car) from Madz28 or PCMforless. I heard these 2 programers can add 8-10 hp to a bone stock with one of there tunes. I would also like to have then disable my EGR while there i there. What do you all think.

I've heard chips are useless... if all you did was long tube headers i personally would say save your $$ unless you have to tune for the 160 degree thermostat(?)... but if you have your heart set on it have Brian from PCM4less flash tune the PCM or have it dyno tuned.

PCM4Less did my 93. Awesome job, he found 312HP 330TQ from my bolt-on car.

What mods have you done to achieve 312 hp? I am thinking my 93 Hawk may be close to that with the headers. I had a 95 Formula that dynoed 281 rwhp with just a Borla 2 3/4" ypipe and a 3 " off road pipe and it was a automatic.

What did PCMforless charge you to make a chip?

Thanks and nice car by the way.

Thanks!!!

Don't recall the $$$ (local club had a dyno-tune day) but was well worth it to me.

Mods are:
TPiS LT headers, no cats
3" x-pipe to spintech mufflers
Accel 300+ box, taylor thunder-volt wires
CSI H2O pump
1.6 RR
Holley 52MM throttle
Edelbrock intake
