Re: Roof panel paint bubbles - what % of cars not yet affect
Not sure how build date has any leverage. Mine is a 2001 build date 2000/11. Pontiac replaced it under warranty years ago and now my hood is bubbling.

What about bubbles on the hood, can that be repaired? I'm hoping its just clear coat or paint.

Bubbles on the hood now? WTF GM? It seems they built these cars so cheaply, they want us to get rid of them.

GM didn't make the hood.02 red hawk wrote:Bubbles on the hood now? WTF GM? It seems they built these cars so cheaply, they want us to get rid of them.

And fiberglass won't bubble. Would have to be the paint and or clear coat.

So it's another strike against SLP for shoddy craftsmanship. I have read where some members have delaminating hoods.PontiacFan wrote:GM didn't make the hood.02 red hawk wrote:Bubbles on the hood now? WTF GM? It seems they built these cars so cheaply, they want us to get rid of them.

Peeling or blistering clear coat and then even into the base coat isn't that unusual on cars that have been kept outdoors a lot in the hot sun. I saw a 31K mile one owner, 2001 WS6 that was just fried on the roof, hood, and quarters. Chunks of plastic were coming off the sides of the hatch back. A moderate amount of care and thought could probably prevent a lot of that.
3 years since I had my car and no signs of waviness or bubbling. Then again, it never sits parked out in the hot sun more than a few minutes at a time. I always find the shade.
