Just bought a #396 from 1995. Anyone know a lot about the LT1's? Motor is running very rough...No codes coming up.
I keep being told Optispark... I have heard the storys and so on. So if this is the place to start as it is orignal what kind of time am i looking at to change it?
Thanks in advance

Re: 1995 LT1
cheapest and easiest thing you can do is pull off the valve covers and look at the valve springs.

I would also check fuel psi, ohm check the injs and check the plugs, wires(including coil wire) and then look at the dreaded opti.
Always looking for SLP/Firehawk parts for 3rdgen birds.

I'll start there. I know the fuel pump was just replaced...it just doesn't make power like it should!

Usually not an issue on stock/bolt-on LT1's... been there myself.BLACK-HAWK wrote:cheapest and easiest thing you can do is pull off the valve covers and look at the valve springs.

I agree with all these to nail down what MIGHT be wrong... spend some time properly diagnosing the issues if you are fixing them yourself. That way instead of throwing money at it, you can spend the money where it matters... making it faster.TTOP350 wrote:I would also check fuel psi, ohm check the injs and check the plugs, wires(including coil wire) and then look at the dreaded opti.
