Power hatch release - fix

Post by Mattie » Mon Jan 28, 2013 3:37 pm

Just an FYI for fellow F-body owners.

I was having a slight issue with having to push the hatch release button a number of times - before the hatch would fully release.

I looked at LS1 tech as well for a fix. A lot of people were putting heavier springs on the release mechanism, bending, tweaking, greasing, etc.

Here is the 20 second fix.

Back out the two rubber bump stops on the hatch lid - just a bit at a time.

Voila, your hatch will open perfectly every time. Whether you use the key fob or the power hatch button.

Just needed a bit more pressure from the bottom side. I'd imagine the bump stops just get a little tired & permanently squished down after a period of time.

Good info. You can also... replace your hatch struts.
