I see a lot of LS vehicles with Ported and Polished throttle bodies, upgraded intakes, larger MAFs and pulleys. Are these mods worth the cash? I do not forsee any large HP gains with these mods. I am looking to gain some added HP with external mods only, not looking at forced induction. Has Anyone had any noticeable gains that they recommend...besides my current setup below....Thanks!
I forgot to add I do have SLP CAI as well.

Re: Ported TB?
You would probably benefit from a ported throttle body. Just remember that the front of your intake manifold must be at least the same size of the ported throttle body or you will just be wasting money. With the cam you have and headers, and I'm guessing a good free flowing exhaust, you have no doubt made it breathe better on the exhaust side, the CAI combined with a ported throttle body should help it breathe better on the intake side. Only a before and after dyno run will tell you just how much H.P. you will have gained, and that custom cam will play a BIG part in your gain, but I would bet you will be able to feel the difference, even though it will be only a slight (I'm guessing maybe 7-10 H.P. gain from what I understand). It's a popular mod because it is so easy and relatively inexpensive to do, and the guys running stroker motors really need the extra flow. Decent bang for your buck.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I should have an LS6 intake on a 02' Firehawk? Will bigger injectors be needed or can the stock ones handle it?

Yes you should have the LS6, and no you shouldn't need to change injectors unless they are already maxed out.

Did you have the cam installed or was it already done to the vehicle when you purchased it?
At your hp level, your stock injectors are still fine until you do a major jump from where you are at (ported head and bigger intake setup).
If you are looking for horsepower, all the little tidbits can add up and minimize/eliminate bottlenecks in the airflow.
LS1's love to breathe so anything you can do to aid this on an n/a setup will benefit your numbers. Ported stock throttle body is a relatively cheap mod to go along with your LS6 intake, or you could go all out with a FAST 92 or 102 intake with matching throttle body and larger MAF (not the SLP, but more like the TSP style) and then you would want to make sure the tune is set up for the changed intake tract and MAF tables... $$$$.
If there is a limited amount you want to spend, just figure what you would like to do for the money. ARH headers are a great upgrade and that is an awesome start you have.
I would recommend rear end gears if you don't already them. 3.90's to 4.10's on a cam'd 6 speed are awesome.

Re: Ported TB?
Look on ebay for potz speed. They do an excellent port and polish job on the stock tb's and they do the bump stop mod which is a must. A bigger maf can be obtained by going to a truck 85mm maf for $50 but some tuning and soldering is involved but worth it for how cheap it is. I can elaborate more if your interested in that route. The ls6 intake is excellent for what you have. For what you have the fast intake isnt worth what you would get out of it, the money could be spent much better on other things for bigger gains. The smaller balancer pulleys are waste of money. Most ive ever seen actual dyno gains from real people is 4 rwhp.for $200+ thats a waste.

Plus 1 on the rear end gears. I just went to a 411 and in 6th gear at 80mph on the highway im still only at 2200rpms which isnt bad at all considering most cars are at about 2500rpms at that speed or even more!96AZHAWK wrote:Did you have the cam installed or was it already done to the vehicle when you purchased it?

Thanks for the great info! I think 410's will def help me get to my powerband quicker. Had to hold out on some mods after forking out the cash for the ARH headers....geez! Very happy with them though
