Nostril grills removal

Post by gscherer78ta » Sun Dec 15, 2013 8:44 am

How can the black plastic grills on the hood nostrils be removed? There is some junk in the cavity behind those grills and I would like to clean back there.

They are held in place with double-sided tape.

Try using some fishing line to cut thru the foam tape. It should work just fine as long as you have strong enough line.

Thanks all, I got the nostril off and the stuff cleaned out. That metal is pretty flimsy and having a part stuck on by double sided is super cheap for such an expensive car.

You do realize that a lot of ground effects kits are held on by double-sided tape, right?

I'd like to get mine off to paint them and clean up behind them, I'm surprised to hear that they're metal since they look like plastic.

They look pretty flimsy to me and I'm terrified to damage them.

I don't see how you could get fishing line (or anything else) under them to remove them without potential hood damage.

If anyone could give me any insight on this, please do so.

No, I did not know that. I guess I can see where aftermarket stuff would need to be done that way but, not from the factory.
I learned something new today.
