Power Antenna Mast Replacement

Post by rlafash » Wed Sep 09, 2015 11:50 am

The power antenna on my 2002 Firehawk will not fully retract. The motor does run in both directions. I believe all that's required is a new mast. I purchased a replacement mast GM#10256439. The immediate issue with the replacement was that it has a bright finish, not black like the original. Next issue involves the mast nut on my car. It is nothing like the one shown in the replacement instructions nor any other typical instructions found on the internet. My "original" antenna has what I'll describe as a small black ferreel with a flat on one side at the base of the antenna where it mounts to the top of the fender in a black rubber bushing. There is no nut with the two notches across from each other. Any help is appreciated.

Probably would have been better off just buying a complete used unit on Ebay or a salvage yard & just replaced the whole thing in a matter of minutes.

Which is why I've bought a spare, ...

If I could remove mine without leaving a huge hole in the quarter, I would give you mine. Both my car's antennas are unplugged. I only listen to CDs, no need for radio reception.

Remove the plastic that covers the spare tire & you'll see a wire that is obviously the antenna line. The plug is a few inches below the sheet metal. Just unplug & let it hang.
