LT1 Fuel Injectors

Post by NyteWzrd » Thu Sep 29, 2016 7:25 am

Ok, Technicians. I have a 94 Hawk with the original LT1 engine, got 60,000 miles. I had some problems over the past couple years. Leaky valve cover dripped onto starter and ruined it. Replaced valve covers and installed new starter. Car ran and idled like it had a roller cam. It doesn't. This year the Optispark was replaced along with water pump. Still had the problem, at first the right bank (1-3-5-7) gave me problems. On start up 3 and 7 weren't getting enough fuel. Check fuel line pressure even did a compression check. Come to find out that #4 injector was malfunctioning. Replaced #4 injector, Engine now runs great. My question can a mechanic remove, clean and reinstall the injectors without any computer recalibrations? I can rebuild an engine but I do not have the computer skills for tuning.

I believe the answer is yes. You can also try Sea Foam . I've heard good things about it. From my understanding it breaks down carbon deposits

Yes, you can remove, clean and reinstall the injectors without touching your PCM.

As long as you keep the same flow rate (which cleaning will not change), no PCM is needed
