The CD/GE unit in my 94 Firehawk is going bad. The loading mechanism malfunctions and it clicks many times before playing CD. Sometimes when I remove the CD it still looks for it. Have seen "E23" error code too. I have had these units apart before and the CD or Tape module simply plugs into the base or motherboard.
Options are:
1. Send it out for repair. Any offers on Delco repair places?? I thought there was a good one in NY state???
2. Try to get a new CD module and install it myself. Trick here is finding the correct module. Any thoughts on this?
I would prefer to repair rather than get an after market unit (Sony, Pioneer etc).
