wheel refinishing

Post by 1995no41 » Sun Nov 14, 2004 3:04 pm

my post concerning curbing the 'Hawk (oh, the embarrassement!) is already listed in the tech section below (for those of you reading it I have posted a few new ideas...see what you think).

In viewing my Speedlines, it seems that the damage is minimal and that, perhaps, my initial horror over the whole mess was going to cause me to throw them in favor of some (not yet found) mint replacements.

Since the wheels and tires balanced properly, I have been thinking they must be still within round. I can work and fill the few blemishes (perhaps with a LITTLE all-metal filler as opposed to bondo) and restore with the proper silver color. My question is: has anyone done this? What is the best advice for getting the correct color silver and what type of clear is best for this application which sees some amount of heat as all wheels will?

I know Eastwood makes some kits for this, but I don't even know if I need to go to that extreme. Any advice appreciated- always is!
