I have a 94 Hard top, Would I ruin the vehicle if I change it to a TTOP. I do not want to hurt the value later on. It has 58k original miles. I am looking to change the color from Forest Green to a off Sun burnt orange metalic. I want to find it from House of colors. What are some suggestions. It will be stripped to the shell so it is done right.

badchicken, sounds like a project car? depends what shape it's in now. if it's in good shape now body wise and all i would leave it alone. otherwise it would be ok but changing things can run into problems too. worth more like it is i would say.....................RON :D :D :D :D

Nope, that is too cherry of a car. Leave it alone, if you want it to hold its value in the future. Buy a piece of **** hawk for a couple thousand and do what ever you want to that. There was a 97' ttop hawk on ebay that sold for like 4K and it was in excelent mechanical condition, I think it just needed some body work and paint.

yeah there is no paint issues, it is as new. But I have always been a fan of the TTOPS. I took off the pieces and I can see where i have to take off the top and replace it. But yes I am worried that i will lose value since it only has 58K miles. also I am looking for leather interior. My seats are spotless along with the door panles. Do you think any one would be interested?

T-tops are a must, as long as you have the shades for the summer. I believe there is someone registered on here by the name azvforce. He is on our local boards, and I believe he has done the T-top conversion on at least one car. PM or email him for how easy it is to do it.

I wouldn't do it, but that's just me. Find a different car that already has t-tops. If you don't do it exactly right, you're going to run into water leak and wind noise issues. Plus, can you really bring yourself to cut into such a rare and collectable car? If you do end up doing it, make sure you do your research, and have a very reputable body guy do it. If you can find someone that's done it several times before, even better. If you're a novice to wrenching, please don't hack up that beautiful car  You can pick up another early 4th gen LT1 car dirt cheap these days....buy one with t-tops and leave your 'Hawk in the garage to collect value. Hardtops are better for structual rigidity anyway, and these cars need all the help they can get! 8)

Yeah I'm thinking about leaving it as is. But how about the paint? I am really looking at a metalic burnt orange and possibly silver to accent it.

Do it and enjoy it. There is no guarantee that Hawks will be collector cars so don't worry about decreasing the value.
