Speaker replacement

Post by 97Hawk » Tue Mar 29, 2016 8:15 pm

I've got a blown speaker on the driver side back seat panel( the speaker where the passengers elbow would sit near in the back seat), it doesn't say what size it is in my manual. I'm assuming 6.5"? Is it an easy replacement and has anyone here done it? Any recommendations for brand? Thanks guys.

I had the same issue. Went with Keeaudio. No disappointments with my decision at all. Sound is as good or better than the stock speakers.

Ian of Kee Audio knows 4th gens. I have his level 2 upgrade in both my birds. Bought a full blown system from him recently. Everything but the head unit. Just waiting for my ws6 to get out of the body shop for sail panel replacement, to get started on the install. Level 2 speaker upgrade is a big improvement over stock.

So I got my new CDT subs from Kee Audio, Ian was a big help. I've been browsing the links above but I can't find mention of how to remove the panels to get at my 6.5 subs? I don't see a way in unless it's a pry job with a flathead. These subs are supposed to just be a plug and play setup so I'm hoping to avoid shop fees with this one...

The grill covers will pull off. Just get a hold of them, and give a firm tug. When i did mine, I did not want to cut the factory wiring, so I cut off the pigtail from the old speaker, and made the connection from the speaker pigtail to the new speaker.

The CDT subs are the easiest pieces to hook up. While you got the old factory junk out, slap some sound deadener against the back wall behind the speakers. Provides a bit more punch.
