2009 Camaro and Firebird?

Post by Firebuzzard » Sat Dec 03, 2005 1:46 pm

Rumor has it that GM is doing the Camaro and Firebird for 2009. Anyone hear about this? If so, I'm starting to save my money right now. I want one! As long as its not over optioned base model costs too much! All I want is a fast V-8 rear wheel drive, hell I'd get crank up windows. If the can build a V-8 for $25000 or under, they will sell. AS long as the base model has very few comforts. Let the people build the car they want...pick the options they want. That would give the middle class buyers a chance to buy one. What ya all think?

GM will have a new car in 2009, what it will be called you will know in 1/06. The Firebird is a dead horse and won't be back anytime soon. You will see a restyled GTO and it will be built in the US.

As for price who knows till the model is about to hit the showroom. My best guest is it will mirror the GTO price.

35K - 2006 GTO add 4% a year for the next 3 years and that should give you a rough est of the new GM car.

There is no way the new Camaro (or whatever it is called) car will be priced around $25K with a V8.

In the January 06 issue of GM High Tech mag there is a (The Buzz) section on page 10 at the top that talks about the latest Camaro news. (in August it was announced that GM would roll out a Camaro concept vehicle in January 2006 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.) as per the mag I am looking at and typing this. :D

I sure hope they can make a V-8 for around $25,000 like the Mustang. They could...but probably won't. It will be another high dollar car that only 5% of americans can afford buy.

Yup, the Firebird is still dead and it seems as if the Camaro has a chance. I look forward to the concept car at the auto show.

Only 5% of Americans can afford a $30-35K car?

I'm willing to bet that most f-bodies are daily drivers and not toys.

None are used for daily drivers around here. All are used for summer cruisin, and havin fun. Of the 20 or 30 in my area, none are drivin to grocery stores, work, shopping malls, etc. They are not daily drivers, they are toys.

F-bodies (including V6s) or just Firehawks/SSs?

Your area must be the exception then. There are only 300 people in my office building and there are at least a dozen f-bodies that are here everyday. I also know of 4-5 in my very small neighborhood that are DDs as well.

I would agree with Scott, 90% of the Fbodies still on the road are DD cars. Its the few who only use it as a toy.

Firehawk 526 owner for sale:

Any good lookin', single, available, low-maintenance woman soliciting for a 2-legged toy  :D -- I'll be a boy-toy

I would dare say that probably the upgraded F-bodies, such as Firehawks, WS6, anniversary editions, SS's are probably the exception for DD's in most cases. But there are the few such as myself that have no alternative at the moment.

Heck, even as a DD, it has been so much fun!
