Re: Emergency water pump question
I finally had the pump replaced on Tuesday, stock pump, had already replaced gasket and hose. Total did come to $600, all parts and labor. Now trying to break the habit of continually looking at the temp gauge. Oddly enough, I had the work done at the local Brakes Plus. It was a good experience ever...

Re: Emergency water pump question
Thanks Brian. I wondered about that when Don at SLP mentioned about it hooking up to a gear. The tow truck arrives at 8am tomorrow so I have time to call the shop.........maybe it'll fall off the tow truck.........I should be so lucky. Kidding......it's not HER fault.

Re: Emergency water pump question
Continuing with "As the engine turns"..........sent pix to Don at SLP and the engine is definitely an lt-1, so I think I'm going to get the car towed and get the belt-driven water pump. At this point, I'd like to take a sledgehammer to the car AND the mechanic who sold me the "ls-1" engine. I am so ...

Re: Emergency water pump question
OK............I am being told by another mechanic that I have to replace an electric water pump with another electric water pump.............that's all NAPA offers. OK..........I mentioned a gear-driven water pump and he said that's a possibility..........If I sent a pic of myself right now, I would...

Re: Emergency water pump question
Blackhawk............seriously...........if you didn't have the turbos, I'd say we should part out one of our Hawks and get ONE decent Firehawk. I am in a hurry. Been without the Hawk a week now, so am going with the belt-driven water pump, as it doesn't matter what's in there now. It will also save...

Emergency water pump question
My Hawk does, ineed have an LS1 engine. I need to replace the water pump. I am told by one mechanic that it is an electric water pump and by another that the water pump is shaft driven. Re: Number of miles put on your firehawk a year
Bought my 97 in Aug of 2006 with 46,000 miles. She now has 98,670. Switched engines two years ago for one with 40,000 miles, so I figure between both engines I have about 60,000 or so. I am a daily driver and I estimate I put about 10,000 a year. I recently quit a job where I was doing 65 miles roun...

Re: New front tires and alignment....woohoo....
Seriously............I put four new tires on and was amazed and stunned. I thought I was having steering problems. They even performed well in the snow ! Prior tires were "sticky".........Yeah, like I work at Bandimere............

Re: Header problem
I agree............the GMC guy told me that the muffler shop he called first said my exhaust system was crap and that I should shoot whoever installed it and replace it. I went with BBK headers for financial reasons at the time. I definitely will be on the lookout for a good mechanic after this. My ...

Header problem
I take my Hawk to the the local GMC dealer where they have a pretty good tech for my car. We now have a leaking header and since it is aftermarket (BBK), Lance doesn't feel comfortable working on it. The service manager is calling some muffler shops to see if they will do the job. I am clueless........
