Congrats on the "upgrade" Randy! Now go get 500 miles on it so you can open it up!

As for the converter, sorry I can't help since I've only owned 1 automatic in my life and it was a 4x4 pick-em-up.

I have a friend that used to work for Hot Rod magazine and he said you will rarely, if ever, see a white car o the cover of a magazine because it just doesn't "pop". I have to agree, I've never been a big fan of white cars (no offense to anyone with a white car!) but I did see a Speedway White C5 wi...

I'd have to agree with Bob on this one. I'd stay away from the car AND the dealership.

Kits?? If you mean torque converters, yes they are available for LT1s. SLP sells them and Yank is another popular brand. Just look around at some of the following vendors and see what you can find: www.slponline.com www.thunderracing.com www.tbyrnemotorsports.com www.racenet.net www.performancess.co...

Asa far as which color is the rarer of the two....I'm sure that they made way less white cars than red ones....and to be a white convertible makes it even rarer. Rarity doesn't always mean worth more $$$... afterall, if there was only a handful of Gremlins left on the roads, would they be worth a l...

Is the dealer telling you it was a Lemon Law buyback? If so, they should be plenty of documentation on it.

You might want to ask the dealer to run a Carfax report (www.carfax.com) to see if they have any Lemon Law issues listed for the car.

Do you plan on doing any drag racing or road racing? If so, choose the auto for the drag strip and the 6-speed for road racing.

If racing isn't a concern, go with the red one. Everyone knows red Hawks are the fastest ones. ;)

That's why I said "Manuals put more power to the rear wheels that automatics" ;)

Another good thing about an automatic is that if you go with a high stall torque converter, you can knock several tenths off your quarter mile times. There is no equivalent mod for a manual trans.

Advantages - * Automatics are better (consistently quicker) for drag racing * They are more consistent because they are easier to launch and no matter how fast you can shift a manual you will never outshift a computer * Easier in stop-and-go traffic Disadvantages - * Manuals are better for road raci...
